Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do first when I arrive in Barcelona?

Day 1: Get to accommodation, buy a SIM card, rest. Day 2-3: Get empadronamiento. Day 3-5: Book TIE appointment, open bank account, get transport card. Don't try to do everything Day 1.

How soon do I need to get empadronamiento?

As soon as possible—ideally within your first week. You need it for TIE card application, which must be done within 30 days of arrival.

What's the most important deadline after arriving?

TIE card application within 30 days of entry. Missing this can cause legal problems. Book the appointment early as slots fill up.

Do I need to register with the police when I arrive?

Not separately. Your TIE application serves as your registration. Focus on empadronamiento first, then TIE appointment.
